About the event
In Japanese festival culture, Taiko is something everyone can enjoy – regardless of age, musical experience, or physical ability!
The workshop is designed especially for seniors and is also open to people with disabilities or limited mobility. Activities can be adapted to different levels of mobility and physical ability.
Taiko can be adapted to different bodies and abilities. You can play standing or seated, and movements can be adjusted according to your own comfort and mobility.
The workshop is inspired by communal ways of playing found in festival Taiko traditions from Japan’s Noto Peninsula, where playing is not only about the individual, but also about sharing rhythm and creating something together.
We will explore this spirit by sharing the drums, listening and responding to each other, and creating rhythm as a group.
No previous musical or Taiko experience is needed.
